Will of Francis Waldock, 1783

This is the last Will and Testament of me Francis Walduck the elder of Ashwell in the County of Hertford Labourer. First I give devise and bequeath unto my dear and loving Wife Ann Walduck and to her Heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns for ever All and singular my Messuages Cottages Lands Tenements and Hereditaments whatsoever situate in the Parish of Ashwell aforesaid or elsewhere in the said County of Hertford (having surrendered or intending to surrender such parts thereof as are copyhold to the use of my will) And also all my ready Money Security and Securitys for Money, Debts to me owing Goods Chattels and Personal Estate whatsoever (my just Debts Funereal Expences and the Charge of the Probate of this my Will being thereout first paid and discharged) And I do hereby nominate and appoint my said Wife Ann Walduck sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I the said Francis Walduck the elder the Testator have to this my last Will and Testament contained in one Sheet of Paper set my Hand and Seal the Twenty seventh Day of October in the Year of our Lord One thousand seven Hundred and Eighty three.

Signed Sealed Published and Declared by the said Francis Walduck the Elder the Testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who at his Request in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our Names as Witnesses to.

The within named Ann Walduck was sworn to the due Execution of this Will in form of Law & she verily believes the Goods Chattels & credits of the deceased do not amount to the Sum of one hundred Pounds.
