William Goodchild, 1701

In the name of God Amen I Willm Goodchild of Ashwell in the County of Hertford shoemaker being sick & weake in body but of perfect & sound memory praised be Almighty God for the same Doe make this my Last Will & testament in manner & forme following First I doe give & bequeath unto my son Willm Goodchild the sum of five pounds of Lawfull money of Engd to be respectively payd him at his age of one & twenty yeares or Day of marriage which shall first happen Item I doe give & bequeath unto my Daughter Ann Goodchild the sum of five pounds of Lawfull money of Engd to be respectively payd her at her age of one & twenty years or Day of marriage which shall first happen Item I Doe give & Bequeath unto my Dearly Beloved wife all the remainder of my Goods & Chattells & allso my house I now live in with all & everie the Appurtenances to enable her to bring up & to provide for my Children & if there should happen to be An extraordinary occasion for my said wife to sell the house I leave her towardes the suplying of her own Necessityes or my Childrens that then it shall be Lawfull for her to sell the said house with appurtenances & such sale thereof as shee shall soe make shall be good in Law to whomesoever it is that shall purchase it And I Doe heerby ordayne nominate & Appointe Ann my dearly beloved Wife sole executrix of this my last will & testament In witness whereof I have heerunto set my hand & seale ths nineth Day of November in the thirteenth yeare of the Reigne of o[ur] soverigne Lord William the third ... This was signed & sealed & published & declared by the above named Willm Goodchild to be his last will & testament in the p[rese]nce of us who he desired to suscrib o[ur] names as Wittnesses
