John Bailey, written 1830, proved 1843

This is the last Will and Testament of me John Bailey of Ashwell in the County of Hertford Bricklayer First I give and devise unto my dear Wife Elizabeth Bailey and her Assigns for ever and during the Term of her natural Life All and every my Messuages Cottages Lands Tenements Hereditaments and Real Estate whatsoever situate in Ashwell aforesaid And from and after her deceased I give devise and dispose of the same Messuages Lands Hereditaments and Real Estate in manner hereinafter mentioned that is to say, I give and devise unto my Daughter Mary Bailey her Heirs and Assigns for ever All those two Cottages or Tenements with the Outhouses Yards Gardens and Appurtenances thereunto belonging situate in Back Street in Ashwell aforesaid now in the several Occupations of Samuel Gentle and James Worboys and one half Acre of arable Land lying at or near Ruddery Hill, and one other half Acre of arable Land abutting down to Kitchiner's Windmill Close in Ashwell aforesaid And I give and devise unto my said Daughter Mary Bailey and my Son John Bailey and to their Heirs and Assigns for ever equally to be divided between them as Tenants in Common All that Cottage or Tenement with the Outhouses Yards Gardens Close of Pasture and other Appurtenances thereunto respectively belonging situate in Ashwell aforesaid as the same Premises are now in my own Tenure or Occupation And I give and devise unto my said Son John Bailey his Heirs and Assigns for ever All those four Tenements or Dwelling Houses with the Limekiln Outhouses Yards Gardens Orchard and Ground thereunto belonging situate in Ashwell aforesaid And also all those several pieces or parcels of arable Land containing together by estimation three Acres be the same more or less lying and being in the Fields of Ashwell aforesaid with their Appurtenances And I give and bequeath unto my said wife Elizabeth Bailey during her Life the Use and Occupation of all my ready Money Household Furniture Cattle Goods Chattels and Personal Estate whatsoever (after payment of all my just Debts and Funeral and Testamentary Expences which are to be first paid and discharged thereout) And from and after her decease I give and bequeath all my said Goods Chattels and Personal Estate unto my said Son and Daughter John and Mary Bailey equally to be divided between them share and share alike And I do hereby nominate and appoint my said Wife Elizabeth Bailey sole Executrix of this my Will And I revoke and make void all other Wills and Codicils by me at any time heretofore made and declare this to be my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I the said John Bailey the Testator have hereunto set my Hand and Seal this fifth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty.
