James Bailey, written 1798, proved 1810

In the name of God, Amen I James Bailey of the Parish of Ashwell in the County of Hertford bricklayer being weak in body but of sound & perfect mind & memory, blessed be God, do this twentieth day of November one Thousand seven hundred and ninety eight make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner following. After payment of all my just Debts and funeral charges by me Executrix hereafter named, I give to my dear Wife Ann Bailey the House which I built on the West side of my Dwelling House during her natural life Also I give to my Sons John Bailey Henry Bailey and Peter Bailey, and to my daughters Ann Bailey, Alice Bailey, Sarah Bailey & Isabel Bailey, my House and Garden in Common Lane after the decease of my Wife Ann Bailey and also I give to my aforenamed children and their Heirs for ever the House I lately built on the south side of Ashwell Church All the Rest and Residue of my Goods Chattels and Personal Estate I give to my dear Wife Ann Bailey and I make and ordain her my sole Executrix of this my Will In Witness whereof I the said James Bailey have to this my last Will and Testament set my hand and seal, the day and year above written

Signed, sealed, published & declared by the said James Bailey the Testator as & for his last Will & Testament in the presence of us who were present at the signing and sealing thereof

Ann Bailey the sole Executrix named in the within will was duly sworn &c and that the effects of the deceased are not of the value of twenty pounds.
